STEEL, SOLAR FARMS & LABOUR
You may have wondered why we are seeing a lot of applications to put solar farms on thousands of acres of our fields and farmland? Whitestone at Conisbrough Parks, Swallowsnest, Crowle, Thorne, Kiveton.
STEEL. The answer is that due to the fact that as we are making less steel in the area, there is now surplus capacity at Brinsworth substation in Rotherham.
SOLAR FARMS. Developers can therefore make more money as it’s quicker as they don’t have to build another substation to transfer the energy and cheaper too. WIN-WIN for the developers.
LABOUR. The Labour Government want it to happen. It is well known that the man in charge of this is Ed Miliband. He is an obsessed net zero “local” MP (although he lives in London) and no other local Labour politician will do anything other than mouth platitudes and wring their hands. No chance of them meaningfully standing up against him and these developments. No real scrutiny. No holding to account. So WIN-WIN for Labour and their ideology.
WHAT ABOUT US? For those of us who actually live here unlike Ed Miliband, it means weaker food security and our countryside is blighted. This underlines why it’s so important that we have elected politicians who will scrutinise and stand up for you. Every single elected MP and Mayor in South Yorkshire is Labour. LOSE-LOSE for the likes of you and I.
IF ELECTED MAYOR, I will speak out strongly against these solar farms. They blight our countryside and they’re not welcome on my watch. I don’t want them in #Conisbrough, #Thorne or anywhere in South Yorkshire or the Isle. Solar should be on roofs not fields. It’s as simple as that.
