We were told by the Mayor on 23rd January that the next milestone would be achieved on 27th February. She said that the full Business Case for the Airport would be put by her before the full Council that day for approval. This date is important as the Council goes into “purdah” once the elections are formally announced on 24th March. Otherwise it gets frozen effectively.

The Airport is not on the agenda. This is unacceptable. It means more delay. Delay that is now unavoidable. The more this goes on, the more I am doubting this Mayor. She has a track record of playing political games. Is this one of them? Is she sincere? Will the airport ever re-open whilst she is Mayor? Why this delay? Yet again.
I will continue to hold her to account. Scrutiny is important. She has to go. She has done enough damage. Should I be elected Mayor in ten weeks, I will welcome scrutiny and I won’t be playing games.
